Kelly both spoke the Indian language, and Charles Kelly lived and died with the Indians. He came to the stone house to visit a few times and always brought an Indian or two with him. My mother told me of Indians coming to visit her father and getting chickens from him etc." (source Frances O'Meara dau of Mary Ellen, dau of CC Kelly, Mort, 18) He was "a staunch Methodist, and he and his sons all sang in the choir at the Little Methodist Church at Argyle, WI, a distance of about seven miles from their home.
