Its companies were recruited in the counties of Burke, Glascock, Warren, Richmond, Jefferson, Emanuel, and Harris. Ordered to Virginia, the 48th was brigaded under Generals Ripley, A.R. Wright, and Sorrel. And it is my will and desire that Samuel Webb do have a right and Title made to him of the one hundred acres of land whereon he now lives it being the land I gave to my son George Ramsey. Also I give and (lend?) unto my loving wife Mary Ramsey in the manner aforsaid all my stock of cattle and hogs and sheep. Also all my household and kitchen furniture with my estate Real and Personal of whatever kind it will be that it be equally divided bet ween my five sons namely George Ramsey, John Ramsey, Randolph Ramsey, Thomas Ramsey, James Ramsey, and William Ramsey. And it is my will and desire that if either of my sons above named should die without heir that their part of my estate should by equally divided amongst the surviving ones.
