The family seems to have moved around a good deal during the latter two decades of the 19th century, all in the wider San Antonio area. She was buried in the Old Rock Baptist Church Cemetery at Somerset. Jane Adair Brooks is mentioned on page 217 of the book, "Our Southern Ancestors," by Thelma Faye Cain Prince. She was the fifth child of Sarah Sorrells and Whitmill Harrington Adair. The book states she was born ca. 1828 (she was born July of 1827) in Madison County, Georgia and that she married John Brooks, 26 Dec. 1841, in Paulding County, Georgia. This is the same date as found on the marriage record obtained directly from the Paulding County Clerk. She was only about 14 years old. John was 19. Ms. Prince credits the information given to her about the family from Beverly Nelms of Fort Worth, Texas whose husband is an Adair descendant. Jane's birthplace of Georgia may not be correct. Her son John Milton Brooks listed her birthplace as "Mississippi" in the 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses. In 1910 and 1930 Andrew Allen Brooks listed his IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT JANE ADAIR: Information sent by another researcher has cast some doubt that Jane Adair Brooks was a daughter of Whitmill Harrington Adair and Sally Sorrells. However, the information is not complete enough, nor does it corroborate with Jane Adair's parents' places of birth as recorded in census information.
