Born Nov. 8, 1937, in Coquille, Jean was the only child of Benjamin "Papa" and Mae "Nana" Shoemaker. She was married to Gordon Barnwell from Aug. 31, 1962, until his passing in October 2000. Jean lived much of her adult life in the San Francisco Bay Area, being a wife and mom, before retiring to the Redding, Calif., area. Jean and Papa relocated to Sweet Home, Oregon in 2003. They enjoyed many years of the RV lifestyle and visited many parts of the United States and Mexico. She enjoyed ceramics, photography, painting, and the great outdoors. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Ben and his wife, Ginger of Vancouver; daughter, Elizabeth (Beeson) and her husband, Dan of Lynden, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
