Will of William Ramsey:

In the name of God Amen. I William Ramsey Senr of the State and County a forsaid being weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory. Knowing that it is appointed for all men to die do make this my last will and testament.
Item 1st: First of all I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to a decent and Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting.
Item 2nd: That all my just debts be paid.
Item 3rd: I give to my beloved wife Rhoda Ramsay during her natural life the tract of land and plantation whereon I now live together with such Stock of Horses Cattle and hogs as she may wish to keep together with such of the Household and Kitchen furniture as she may choose to Keep also the following negros (to wit) one Negro woman by the name of Mary and her two Youngest Children also my Negro man Tony.
Item 4th: If my wife Rhoda Ramsay Shall at anytime see fit or proper to divide the property named in the third item of the will She is at liberty to do so and take her childs part which shall be absolutely vested in her and be disposed of by her at her death as she may think proper.
Item 5th: I give unto my son Wade H. Ramsay the tract of land whereon I now live to take effect and be enjoyed by him after the death of his Mother. I also give unto my son Wade H Ramsay one Negro woman by the name of Malinda to take effect at my death.
Item 6th: I give unto David Scoggins and his wife Nancy Scoggins one hundred acres of land bought by me from Milesbury and joining Lands of John M. Payne, Rhoda Payne, Silinda Payne and Squire Mason. I also give unto my Daughter Nancy Scoggins and the Lawful heirs of her body (free from the trust of her Husband David Scoggins) one small Negro girl now in her possession by the name of Delilah.
Item 7th: I give unto the Wife and children of my Son William Ramsay Junr the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars.
Item 8th: I give unto my son James Ramsay the sum of sixty dollars.
Item 9th: I give unto my son Druey M Ramsay the sum of Two hundred & fifty dollars.
Item 10th: I give my son Thomas J Ramsay Five hundred dollars.
Item 11th: I give my son in law David Scoggins Five Hundred dollars.
Item 12th: I give unto my son in law Andrew Martin Five hundred dollars Item 13th: I give unto my wife and children of my son George W. Ramsay the sum of Two hundred dollars.
Item 14th: I give my son in law Asa York the sum of one dollar he having heretofore had his proportionable part.
Item 15th: I give unto my son John Ramsay the sum of one dollar he having heretofore has his part.
Item 16th: It is my will that all the property I may die Possessed of which is not especially disposed of in this will be sold by my Executors in the way they may think best and applied to the payment of the forgoing Legacies, in the Proportion to the amount so left them.
Item 17th: It is my will that my Negro Man Toney after my wifes death shall have his choice to live with and go to whichever of my children he may see proper the one he may select to live with paying his value which a mount shall be divided Amongst my Children according to amounts bequeathed to them. The value of Toney be assessed by disinterested men appointed by my executors.
Item 18th: It is my will that should not my property hold out to pay the Legacies left to each Child each one shall loose propertion and shoul dn't here be over plus to be equally divided amomg all of my children.
Item 19th: I hereby nominate and appoint my wife Rhoda Ramsey and Thomas Morris my executors hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
