Martha Ann Ranshaw was born in Jo Daviess Co., IL, the daughter of James RANSHAW and Caroline MURDION (DC). Morton states she was born a farm near Winslow, Stephenson, IL, and was the daughter of William and Clarissa RENSHAW. The marriage certificate also lists William and Clarissa RENSHAW as her parents (m. July 25, 1861 by J.P. Eaton - B. Williams). In any case, she was living in WI when she met and married Absalom KELLEY (Annals of Iowa). She was living on the Kelley farm when the 1860 census was taken. Their first child, Amy Catherine, was a seven month baby. Her
husband's obituary states she was a native of Monroe WI, which could imply long residence. Her d-i-law, Julia Barth Kelley, nursed her during her final illness from Christmas 1917 until her death in February (M.A. Kelly obit). She lived to be 77. The funeral was held at home Sabbath, 3 Feb 2 o'clock. Rev. S.M. McConnell and Dr. Geo. Baker presiding. Cause of death: cancer of liver (DC).

Claude V. Ransome, 85, of Belfair, died on Sunday, October 18.
He was born on January 9, 1913, in Republic to Walter and Mary (Hankins) Ransome.
Mr. Ransome served in the Army during World War II, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of the Union of Operating Engineers, Local 302, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Belfair.
Mr. Ransome is survived by his sister, Helen Swihart of Washington and his friend, Jim Jesfield of Belfair.
At his request, no services were held.
Arrangements were under the direction of McComb Funeral Home in Shelton.

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF CLAUDE VERNON RANSOME

I, CLAUDE VERNON RANSOME, of legal age, residing at Belfair, Mason County, Washington, do hereby make my Last Will and Testament, and do hereby expressly revoke all Wills and Codicils to Wills I have made.
FIRST: I order and direct that my remains be decently disposed of by my personal representative.
SECOND: I order and direct that all of my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my personal representative as soon after my death as permitted by law.
THIRD: I expressly direct that all of my estate shall be settled by my personal representative without the intervention of any court, and in such manner as my personal representative may deem advisable, and with full power to sell and convey all of any of the real or personal property of my estate without an order of any court for that purpose and without notice or conformation, at such price and upon such terms and conditions as to my personal representative may seem just; no bond of any kind shall be required of my personal representative. After the probate of such Will and the entry of an order of solvency, all of my estate shall then be held, managed and settled without the intervention of any court; that all rents, issues and profits derived therefrom, as well as the proceeds arising from the sale thereof, and all increments of the same, shall be held, managed and settled by my personal representative for the uses, persons and purposes specified.
FOURTH: I am the widower of Olga Ann Victoria Ransome and I have no children.
FIFTH: I give certain items of my tangible personal property, not used primarily in trade or business, and not otherwise specifically of by my Will, as I shall in the future designate in writing, which will be either in my handwriting or signed by me, and which will describe the items, and the recipient of each item. This writing or writings may be later amended by subsequent handwritten or signed changes.
SIXTH: I give all of the balance and remainder of my property, which I have at the time of my death, or to which I may be entitled, whether real, or personal or mixed, and wheresoever situated, unto JAMES A. JESFIELD of BELFAIR, MASON COUNTY, WASHINGTON.
SEVENTH: Any and all indebtedness, financial or otherwise of JAMES A. JESFIELD to me at the time of my death shall become null and void and cease to exist.
EIGHTH: I hereby nominate and appoint JAMES A. JESFIELD as the personal representative of my Last Will and Testament, to act as such without bond or intervention of any court, as more fully set out above.
In the event my personal representative is unwilling or unable to act as such, then I appoint JUDY JESFIELD, wife of JAMES A. JESFIELD as my alternate representative.
IN TESTIMONY, WHEREOF, I, CLAUDE VERNON RANSOME, have set my hand and seal and declare this my Last Will and Testament on this 16 day of June, 1997.
